Perfect Pets For Bachelor’s Pad
Are you bachelor and in need of some company in your pad? Thinking of getting a pet to compliment your moves and style? Here are some ideas to help you…
Dog
When we think of Dogs the old saying comes to mind ‘A dog is a Man’s best friend”! The statement couldn’t have been any truer! When you get home tired from work or from a great night partying with your mates, there’s no better feeling than to be greeted by a playful four legged companion who just goes berserk when he see’s you. The sloppy licks and all four paws on you are definitely to be expected! So why again do dog’s make good pets? In simple words, dogs not only provide companionship and an ongoing long term friendship, but they also touch on our emotional side as they genuinely love and depend on their owners. Who can resist the puppy dog eyes and droopy ears sitting and staring at you from the corner? Be it a big breed like a German Shepherd or a Golden Retriever or a smaller mutt like a Poodle or Chihuahua, all dogs have their own warmth and one thing definitely in common: A big wagging Tail! For all you bachelors, depending on the type of area available to you, decide on the size of the dog as they are a life time commitment!  With all the running around that doggies enjoy so much, your pet will definitely make sure to it that you are getting enough air and exercise, keeping you totally in shape!  These Loyal, funny, loving, majestic animals are a 100% worth the effort! Besides, appearing irresistible to the opposite sex, you have a 90% chance to score with that hot chick, each time you decide to walk your furry friend!
Cat
I personally have never given much thought to keeping a Cat as a pet till I decided to give it a shot! Being a Dog person, what I discovered amazed me! Cats are so totally adorable and silly. If you guys have a shortage of space or are a little bit on the lazier side, Cats are the purrrfect little companions for you. Not only are they extremely playful and cute, they love to come sit on your lap or by your side and purr. The good news is there’s no barking involved and no walking a cat. The best news: no cleaning poop!!! Cat’s just go do their thing in their litter box which needs to be cleaned out twice a day. As long as they are getting enough food and water they stay happy. Â Be sure not to feed your cat too much though, or before you know it you’ll land up with a big fat bellied lazy cat!!Contrary to the belief that cats stay as long as they are given food, Cats are actually very affectionate. They may not come running to you as soon as you step in through the door, but they try hard to keep their owners happy and display love by asking to be petted and rubbing and purring against their owners. Also they spend a majority of the day grooming and cleaning themselves. If you guys have any mice or bugs in your place, get a cat! For you single men, if you are planning to get into a love relationship in the near future, definitely keep a cat. Because earning a cat’s love is much harder than a dog, you need to treat them with care and love to get their affection in return, which helps you get enough practice for the future! Also again, it’s easier to score with the chicks as they won’t be able to resist a big eyed beautiful kitten!
Parrot
If you’re looking for a smart, intelligent pet that will stay with you for a long time, consider keeping a parrot! Especially if your apartment lacks space then all the more Parrots make great pets. A parrot is a funny silly companion, who will learn what he sees around him and in time will be able to imitate you cleverly! They can be loud, sometimes irritating, destructive yet funny and sometimes will have you holding your tummy for hours on an end. Leave him bored and alone, he can become your worst nightmare! Sometimes acting like a spoiled kid, Parrots throw tantrums and have the intelligence of a 3 year old child. You single lads, be careful not to let your parrot learn the names of the chicks you date. He may end up saying the wrong one’s at the wrong time! If you are considering getting a Parrot, make sure you have a little time each day to spend with him. If they get lonely and depressed, they will make you unhappy too! The life Span of a parrot is about 15-20 years, depending on the species, some even live till 30! So be prepared to teach your little friend things you are willing to hear, you may sometimes have him chatting away late at night!!
Tarantula
For the more “macho” men out there, Tarantulas can be a fascinating pet as well as a hobby. Not too famous with the opposite sex though, this creature has to be properly cared for and deserves a bit of respect. To begin with make sure that you have arranged for a well assembled secure home for your hairy friend! The last thing you’d want to wake up to is a squashed tarantula! Caring for them is easier than with most other pets and there are no vets involved! Also they take up just a little bit of space and do not come in the way of things. You have to be careful of not getting bitten however, as depending on the species; a bite could range from a mild irritation to a fatal outcome! Female tarantulas tend to mostly out live a male one, so its wiser investing in a female. Tarantulas need water which can be provided from a plastic bottle attached to the cage, but be careful not to let their cages be damp. Insects like crickets can be fed twice a week. Nowadays Tarantulas are becoming immensely popular as pets and can easily be bought in any pet store. For the more Strong hearted and adventurous man; Tarantulas will definitely be a good choice of pet!
Rabbit
Awww! Who can resist cuddling up to these really cuddly creatures? Rabbits make excellent pets for men with lesser space in their homes. But if you have a lawn, watch your little rabbit skip and hop around in delight! Rabbits are gentle and tame animals and easily get attached to their owners. They rarely bite, and absolutely love vegetables and carrots. They are playful little playmates and can be groomed just like dogs and cats. If you are the cuddly type you’d enjoy a Rabbit as a pet. Also thanks to him you’ll have gals showing up at your place to play with your pet. Rabbits have a life span of about 8-12 years and can be very affectionate if looked after properly. However rabbits are not too fond of water and should be kept away from baths! They can easily be housetrained using a litter box, so you lads don’t have to worry about cleaning after them. It is a joy to be walking around the house with a Rabbit following you around. And for you music buffs, research shows that Rabbits love to listen to music!
Ferret
For all you lonely men thinking of adopting a companion, why not try a Ferret? Watching these friendly creatures play is a guarantee mood lifter no matter how low you may be. It is mostly recommended to keep two, as they love to play with each other and keep company. Â Feeding them is a No problem, and lots of different varieties of Ferret food is easily available in pet stores. These tiny furry creatures often surprise their owners with their intelligence! If they want something, be rest assured they will get their point across o you with less effort. They are determined little creatures, who stay quiet as a mouse and make noise only when they are startled or scared. Again, no poop problem! Like cats, these creatures are litter trained and hardly ever dirty the house. It’s just another pet that is bound to make you famous among the opposite sex. Ferrets are loving creatures and seek attention and love from their owners. Getting to know your ferret will take you on a unique adventure of its own kind. Their personalities are often different from each other, some being cuddly while others are a little more independent. Still, these mousey like animals are just the cutest little things!!
Hamster
You lads looking for a really small pet that is fun to play with, yet demands the least bit of attention? Look no further, buy a Hamster. You can spend hours on an end looking at your hamster play in his cage. Give him one of the rolling wheel and see how much fun he can have. The best thing about a Hamster is that they do not get attached to their owners, which is ideal for someone with not too much time on his hands. They are omnivorous and love to eat both veggies and meat. Hamster food is again very easily available. They are mostly active during the night and like to be lazy and sleep during the day! Hamsters can be trained to do tricks, a little something that you can show off to your mates! Mostly their cages should be made up of metal with enough food and water. Throw in a few toys like a running wheel, a slide and a see saw and watch them go! Some hamsters are known for doing back flips and it’s absolutely hilarious to watch them running on the wheel with doing back flips alongside! Makes a great pet with some good laughs!
Turtle
Not a very common pet to keep, but an equally cute one, Turtles can make great pets! If you are tight on time and still would like to have a pet that you can see every once in a while Turtles are the perfect choice for you. Although they won’t be all cuddly and playful, it can be an interesting hobby to sit and watch them in their aquarium tanks. Make sure that the tank is not too small and has a piece of land so that they may be able to swim and rest on land if they like. If you have a property with land to spare, you can consider keeping a larger turtle in the outdoors. However make sure to fence the area with secure fences to avoid your pet from escaping! Turtle food can easily be purchased in the market, depending on the kind of turtle you decide to keep. While most are herbivore and simply love lettuce, some may be carnivores too. The good news is that you won’t have to take regular trips to the vets. Only in the case of a sick sad turtle it is recommended to see a vet straight away. However, to prevent any kind of illness make sure to keep your pet and his home clean. Be sure to change the water often, or you can simply buy a filer that pulls out the dirt automatically.
Chinchilla
Another great little animal that deserves our attention is a Chinchilla. Chinchillas make great pets and are small, friendly, cuddly and loads of fun. They have a long life span of about 15 years, which assures that you will definitely get attached to your little furry pet. While you are out during the day time working away, your Chinchilla will be getting his beauty sleep as they love to sleep throughout the day and are mostly active at night. If you are living in an apartment, they will make the best pet for you. One very important aspect to keep in mind is that at no cost can you get a Chinchilla wet. Keep them away from bathrooms and toilet seats. Water is as good as poison to them as it crushes their internal organs leading to a painful death. You can give them dust baths once in a week to keep them nice and clean. Chinchillas are very playful and if you put your mind to it they can be house trained. Bring home a Chinchilla when it is a young one, so it can get used to its new owner. Make sure to give them a large cage and have a few hiding places around the house like clay pots etc where they can rest and sleep.
Fish
While some may prefer dogs and cats or hamsters and guinea pigs, fish actually make great pets too! Shopping for fish can be a great fun experience. You can either keep a goldfish in a bowl or invest in a beautiful aquarium decorated to your taste! The great thing about fish is that they are easy to maintain, are found in different sizes, shapes and colors and are inexpensive to buy. Nor do they require any trips to the vet. However, do make sure to clean their tank often and put in some good filters and pumps. You will need an aerator (for oxygenating the water) and decorations to make your tank colorful and enjoyable for your fish. Although you will not get much of a response, you can still take time to name your fish. After a long day at work, just sitting and taking a look at the fish swimming around can be very relaxing. Goldfish, suckers, guppy’s, angel fish are some of the choices you can look into!
